My Ikigai – Part 5 –
Stronger Together… my coaching ethos. This series of blogs inspires each of us to take a deeper look at what enables us to live a fulfilled life both inside and outside of work. By that I mean: what values we hold dear; what drives and motivates us; why it’s important as leaders to have high self-awareness & how that transposes into successful interactions with others.
Stronger Together is underpinned by Ikigai… the Japanese philosophy meaning “reason for being“… naturally, underlying elements are missed in the translation and the essence of these need to be embraced holistically. This series of blogs does not pretend to explain Ikigai, there are many books on the subject… it is my interpretation, a wealth of experience working in the western world coupled with my deep appreciation of karate fundamentals and principles. An East-meets-West approach.
My hope and work ethos is for you to find and celebrate your Ikigai in whichever part of the world is your home…
Why start at Part 5…
Because people are at the heart of the matter. Because we can all dare to be different. And because people strength and teamwork shine through…
Stronger Together: Friendships at Work
Bringing ‘friendship’ and ‘work’ together may seem at odds. Look a little closer and find synergies… be Stronger Together.
How amazing to be able to combine and enjoy both… at the same time, naturally. Taking time to learn about those with whom you work, being interested in them, their aspirations and challenges; most of all listening, really actively listening… deep understanding, shared experiences and friendships emerge. And great successes too!
Previously I have had the absolute privilege to work with some really great people, creating friends and connections thousands of miles away when charged with shaping and delivering towards global goals. Huge pressures; tight deadlines; commercial survival at stake; and we delivered… Stronger Together. Photos of times shared with treasured teams… a blended mix of working sessions and team celebrations.
Making the most of face-to-face opportunities.
Creating lasting friendships across the miles… and awesome work outcomes.
